Update: Thanks to 133 backers and countless other supporters, we've successfully managed to raise 125% of our goal!! A HUUUUUGE thank you to all who made this possible!

It's funny the way things work out. You might remember that I did a series of promo photos for Heidi Wall a while back. What I didn't know was that she was working together with soprano, Natasha Campbell, who I went to a specialized arts high school with. Natasha has always had a bit of a thing for Samuel Barber's Hermit Songs and since they were both working on them together with plans to record them, they thought they'd reach out to me to see if we could all reach a larger audience together by adding a film component to complement the songs. And so...we put our heads together and came up with a really fun Kickstarter campaign in an effort to fund it, so that we're able to make the best possible film we're capable of:

The support and personal messages from friends, family and complete strangers has been crazy encouraging, but we still have a long way to go! It would be huge if you could share our project with others in your network, connect with us on facebook and please feel free to contact us directly with any questions or to just plain say hi! We're also thrilled to see that Kickstarter has actually noticed our video out of so many campaigns - they've reached out to say they're endorsing us (with that little blue "Project We Love" button in the screenshot below) making us one of the 0.06% of current projects they're actively supporting:

A HUUUUUGE thanks for all the love and we're excited to get to work on a truly special collaboration!

Heidi Wall part II - behind the scenes

In case you missed it, you can find more Heidi goodness from part I here.

Heidi Wall is cooking up some good things with her "Refugee Bike Tour" and has since re-done her whole website to include a large section of it devoted to the project.

The day after Canada Day is perhaps inadvertently a very relevant time to post a short blurb about what she's trying to accomplish as it's a good reminder of how good we have it here.

Heidi is putting together her One Million Dollar Refugee Dream Fund by playing in homes, churches and other venues across Canada. The fun part is she plans on cycling to each venue on a recumbent bike (if you had to click the hyperlink, don't worry...I had to look it up too).

If you'd like to get involved, you can book a concert or simply donate to the cause directly by getting in touch with her here.

Thank you so much to CanPhoto.net (Canadian Photographers Network) for all the social media love today as well as Vistek via the ProPhotoBlog.ca (All About the Image) among others. I'm very flattered that people have interacted and shared this image as much as they have.

Happy first day of Summer!!! We're excited to head to Toronto Island to do a very special photography project with some very good friends. Not a bad way to spend the day I'd say.

What are you doing with your first day of summer?
